What is Adult Foster Care?
Family living for disabled adults who can no longer live safely alone.
Who is eligible to participate?
Any adult who is disabled or elderly and needs assistance in order to live in the community. When admitted to the program, applicants must be continent, motivated, and oriented to time and place.
What is the cost?
Adult Family Care is funded by Medicaid. Home caregivers are paid monthly for room, board, and personal services.
Who lives with whom?
Participants are carefully matched to families on the basis of common interests, location, physical suitability of the home, and the ability of the host family to provide required care.
What kinds of homes are needed?
Many kinds of homes are needed. Any family or person who has an extra room may be eligible to become a caregiver. Caregiver homes are selected from caring applicants of all ages. Training is provided, and professional support is readily available.
